Week 5

                                                                                                                                       Carol working on a quilt - January 2013

"She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands...
When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple...
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue...
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her...
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."
                                                                                         Proverbs 31:13, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, 30 NIV

I hesitated to quote anything from "The Wife of Noble Character" section of Proverbs 31.  She is so perfect and productive, and I fall so short when compared to her!

This was my first attempt at taking a self-portrait.  I had to figure out how to use our tripod and the self timer on the camera.  Now, if only I could figure out how to remove a double chin!

Week 4

                                                                                                                                              Jonathan & Naoko - August 2012

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb;
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
     your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
Psalm 139:13-16 NIV

                                                                                                                                                                      December 2012
"Every good and perfect gift is from above"
James 1:17a NIV

                                                                                                                                     Peacefully sleeping in Uncle Mike's arms

"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."
Psalm 4:8 NIV

                                                                                      17 year old Uncle Tim with his 2 1/2 month old nephew

"A happy heart makes the face cheerful"
Proverbs 15:13a NIV

                        A proud Grandpa holding his happy grandson - photo by Tim

"Children's children are a crown to the aged"
Proverbs 17:6a NIV

I am not sure if my husband will be happy to be referred to as "aged" but he is a grandfather now and he does have a fair bit of grey hair!   We sure loved having all three of our sons, our daughter-in-law, and our first grandchild home with us for a week over Christmas.

Week 3

                                                                                                                     Jonathan & Naoko - New Year's Day 2008

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24

I took this picture 5 years ago on a sunny and cold New Year's Day, and it is still one of my favourite fun winter photos.  This is my oldest son and his, then, fiancee and they were sledding on a hill behind our house. They have been married almost 5 years now, and recently had a beautiful baby boy.  Next week I will be posting a picture of my grandson.

Week 2

                                                                                                           A Friendly Neighbourhood Snowman

        "A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones."
Proverbs 15:30 NIV

I was waiting for a fresh snowfall and a sunny day, so I would be able to go outside with my camera and hopefully get a great photo for this week's photo entry.  We finally had some fresh snow on Sunday so I went out in the falling snow with a plastic bag covering my camera and did a little photo shoot.  All the pictures seemed a little dull without much colour or shining sun to brighten them up.  However, many children must have taken advantage of the great "packing" snow because this  morning when I was driving through the neighbourhood, I spotted lots of cheerful snowmen on people's front yards.  This fellow was a great one with his carrot nose and colourful buttons.  Even though it still wasn't sunny today, at least the colourful  buttons and scarf give the photo a bit of life!  I would have liked to have taken more time with the snowmen, but I was a little self conscious taking photos of a strangers' front yards!  Next time the conditions are perfect for building a snowman, I will have to make one myself!

                                                                                                                                                                              The Whole Snowman

                                                          Point Clark Lighthouse, Lake Huron, Ontario

"The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?"
Psalm 27:1a NIV
